CHILDREN
Dance teaches children to have empathy and understanding as not everyone learns the same way and comes from the same background. Connecting with other children on an emotional level through their love for dance encourages inclusion and acceptance of each other’s differences.
BEADS AND BRACELETS
The initiative seeks to preserve and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of bead work while empowering the next generation with valuable artisanal skills including fostering inter generational relationships and a sense of community through shared cultural activities.
EMPOWERMENT
Traditional and folk dances give a sense of empowerment to the culture of its origin by providing a way for people to express their cultural identity, history and values. It also provide a connection to the past, allowing people to explore their ancestry and find a sense of pride in their heritage. Furthermore, traditional and folk dances can be used to bridge gaps between different communities, creating a sense of unity and interconnectedness. Finally, they can be used to educate younger generations, preserving and promoting traditional values and strengthening the cultural identity of a particular group.
ABOUT US
Tarumbeta cultural group was started in the year 2005 as a cultural group and registered under gender sports and culture in department of culture and social service. It’s also registered as a community based organization (CBO) in Kariobangi North Eastland.
The main group’s objective and agenda is to create awareness in the community through music and art on the auspices of edutainment and infotainment. The group uses music as a tool of mobilizing youths towards community development that is bodied to empowerment and poverty reduction. The groups consist to over 40 members both male and female.
